Singapore - 26 May 2023

Farewell Kuala Lumpur.  Today we end in Singapore for our last 2 nights.  This morning we got up early and made our way to the airport to catch our flight.  It was an uneventful journey, after 5 trains, a metro and a plane ride, we finally made it to the hotel around 3pm.

After freshening up, we headed out to Chinatown.  Mish has lots of fond memories of his time there, especially of eating BBQ-ed stingray.  While there was lots going on in Chinatown, the old atmosphere is gone and is replaced by a more commercial one.  And not BBQ-ed stingray in sight.

Throughout the trip we said that we would try some fresh Durian, and never managed to.  Finally we got to try some.  We were told in Vietnam and Cambodia that if you can get past the smell, it doesn’t taste bad at all… and that it is something that one would love or hate, just like marmite.  We can report that the whole Wozny family is definitely NOT a fan of Durian.  Its not just the smell, which is vile and like rancid something-or-other, the texture is like baby puree, and the taste is pretty awful too!

As we were a bit tired today, we decided to head back to the hotel for an early night.
