Madagascar - 9 September 2023

Last day in Ifaty! It has been a lovely few days of just relaxing and slowing down.  However today is also a special day as it is Wawa’s 70th Birthday!  Happy Birthday!

To celebrate we went on a Boabab forest walk, where we saw a large number of interesting trees, with each tree being very unique.  There are 6 different species of Boabab endemic to Madagascar itself.  Along the route, we came across little tortoise, a tenrec (looks like a little hedgehog), a few 3 eyed lizzards, a tree bark gecko, and various insects and birds.  The tenrec was definitely our favourite!

Unfortunately after the walk we had to pack up our things and then just relax at the

resort until our departure at 18:00.  We did manage a bit of a surprise for Wawa during our lunch, as we organised a birthday cake for her! Candles and all! It turned out to be delicious!

It was a relatively short hop over to the airport to catch our flight back to Antanarivo.  It was meant to depart at around 18:00 but it was delayed until 20:30… A late night for us all.  Luckily we have no plans tomorrow except for catching the flight back to SA in the evening, so we can sleep in.
