Madagascar - 3 September 2023

We headed off this morning at 7:30 towards Isalo National Park.  Today officially marked the day that we entered “South Madagascar”, and we could easily tell.  This part of the country is a lot drier that the middle part that we just left, with a lot less trees and hardly any farmlands any more. The valleys have been replaced by rolling plains and some mountain ranges.  Some gorgeous scenery.

We arrived at our hotel just before 13:00, and quickly got our stuff into our room and ate some lunch.  The rush was to get to the pool.  That of course is our girls’ top priority!  And they definitely had a blast in the pool!

To end the day we had sundowners at the Fenetre d’Isalo (Isalo’s Window). It is a unique rock formation with a natural hole that looks like a window.  With the sunsetting directly behind the window, it is the perfect place to end the day.  Oh, and to make it proper sundowners, on the way we stopped in the village and bought a bottle of “Pineapple” wine… Let’s just way that it tasted better when watered down…
