Our journey back to Antanarivo became a bit of adventure. It started with our flight being delayed a number of times and it finally only took off around 23:30. We were scheduled to land at 2:00 in the morning but landed before 0:45. Our pilot definitely took a few shortcuts to get us there so quickly!
By arriving early it meant that we had to a choice of either waiting over an hour for our bus or head to our hotel on our own. We decided to head on our own, and found 2 “taxis” to get us there. These taxes were ancient, but still got us to the hotel in one piece.
We also found out that the hotel did not have our reservation (we found out later in the day that we went to the wrong hotel) but luckily they had rooms available for all of us. So we went to our rooms and just CRASHED.
We managed to sleep in until 9:30. After sorting ourselves, and breakfast we got picked up from the hotel and headed to the shops. We wanted to get a few souvenirs, and a set of Madagascar T-shirts to remember this big family adventure for mom’s 70th! Once that accomplished we had to head to the airport to catch our flight back to South Africa.
Luckily the journey to SA went smoothly and before we knew it we checked into our accommodation. We are spending a few days in SA to decompress before we catch our flight to the UK at the end of the week. We are going to take a little break from our blogging, but don’t worry we will be back to travelling soon! Guess where our adventure is taking us next?
