Flew to SA a week early, with my Aunty Marianne, and landed safe and sound. We went straight into sorting and organising following the death of Robyn’s Aunt Shirley. It’s been a really emotional week!
The weekend at least was spent with some awesome friends, Holly and Suna. Letting Robyn catch up with them and them getting to get to know the girls better. Lots of board games, including Catan, were involved. We also managed to catch up with one of Robyn’s high school friends, Andrew and managed to treat the girls to a visit to the amazing Monte Casino Bird Park.
The bird park was awesome, even Mish was impressed by the various birds. The girls learned some interesting facts, and the one that stood out the most was about the Marabou Stork that urinates down its own legs to keep itself cool. However, one thing that did concern us was seeing non-bird exhibits that contain various poisonous Madagascan spiders, snakes and frogs. Not the most encouraging sign for our impending trip to Madagascar in a few weeks.
The week ended with celebrating Aunty’s life on Monday, and saying our goodbyes. Afterwhich we all need rest and time to grieve and reflect.
