South Africa - 14 August 2023

An early start this morning, so that we could get to Robyn’s family friend’s, Trish, home in Rooi-Els for breakfast.  It was a lovely drive along the coast to get there.  It is no wonder that Trish moved to this part of the coast, as the view from her new home is gorgeous.

We were warned that Trish has 2 great Danes, but we did not get to appreciate it until we saw these magnificent dogs.  They are HUGE.  Actually one of them, Titan, is called a Super Dane, weighing in at 110kg, more of a horse than a dog! They are big but they are also very gentle, as well as a bit clumsy… Just be careful as if they stand on your foot, you will definitely feel it.

The rest of the day was spent driving along the coast to Nature’s Valley.  It was a long drive and took us the most day.

We did have one hiccup along the way.  When we were filling up at the petrol station, one of the attendants noticed that one of the tires was looking flat.  We pumped it up, but after a few minutes the tire pressure reduced significantly, so we had to change the tire out.  Luckily there was a full wheel in the boot, and after a quick change we were on our way.

Driving down definitely brought back memories for Robyn, and I’m sure there will be more memories over the next couple of days.  Once we settled into our accommodation, we headed down to the only restaurant here, the Blue Rocks Restaurant for a well deserved dinner.

Once satisfied we headed home to relax, before we settled down for the night.
