South Africa - 10 August 2023

Today we decided to focus on Cape Town itself, and a must for the girls was to visit the Two Oceans Aquarium!  The girls absolutely loved it, especially Maxine.  It took us over 2 hours to go through it all.  We even got to see the Penguins being fed their lunch time meal.  They can be every picky eaters!  At the end of it Maxine said that she is interested in becoming a marine biologist!

Once we left the aquarium, we went to get some lunch.  And as we were on the aquatic theme we settled on sushi.  We found a restaurant with some amazing sushi, right on the water front and spent a long lunch break eating and just watching the world walk past us.

With full tummies we headed around the V&A and found a couple of geocaches, and took a ride on the ferris wheel.  The view was awesome from the wheel and we went round 5 times before we had to get off.

Then it was time for some dessert, which we found in the form of some delicious ice cream.  We each got 2 scopes, luckily the sun was out in full force and it was feeling nice and warm.  Afterwards we walked through the Watershed, which is filled with lots of stalls with local arts, crafts and merchandise. We bought a few little presents.

By this time it was nearly sunset, and we decided to head back to Muizenberg.  We sat on the beach, well the adults did while the kids played in the sand, and watched the sun go down.

When we got back to the hotel, loadshedding kicked in as soon as we walked through their front door.  And this place unfortunately does not have backup power supplies, and we had to manage the evening in the darkness, including our schooling for the day.   The lights of course turned back on just was we were settling the kids down in bed.

Joys of Eskom, South Africa and a load shedding schedule that is seemingly known only to those who are doing the shedding!
