Today we left Laos and headed to Thailand. After breakfast and some school we headed to the airport to catch our flight to Bangkok. Amazingly we departed 20 minutes early and landed 20 minutes early!
It was a breeze to get through customs and grab our bags. Before we knew it, we were on the train heading for the centre of Bangkok. After a short metro ride we got to the area of our Hostel. We made a quick detour to grab some ice cream and a data sim card, before reaching our hostel.
We checked in, and the girls love our room. They of course have bunk beds and are as happy as pie! There was a bit of housekeeping that we had to do, such as laundry and then we headed out to find some dinner and check out the night life.
And we definitely found it! Close by is PatPong Might market, which is filled with the usual stuff that we have been seeing at the markets. But parallel to the night market, there is a more erotic night market in full swing! The street was lined up with night clubs, with the ladies siting outside trying to entice clientele (i.e. Mish) inside… Through the door we could see dance stages with the poles and scantily dressed girls. Our kids obviously had lots of questions… and in our parenting style, we tried to answer them honestly in and age-appropriate way. We had some similar conversations about why you could rent hotels rooms for 30min in Japan…
On the way back, we took a another street which catered to those otherwise inclined… Dream Boys. More questions followed…
Eventually we got back to the hostel and got the girls into bed. Tomorrow is an early start as Robyn wants to see the famous flower market in Bangkok.
