Singapore - 27 May 2023

Last full day of our trip and we made the most of it.  After getting up and having a simple breakfast, we caught the MRT to the Gardens by the Bay.  It is easy to spend the whole day there.

The first thing we did was walk through the Kingfisher wetlands.  Unfortunately the only kingfishers we saw were huge metal ones.  However, we did see some little birds running across the lily pads on the little pond.  It was a lovely walk through the wetlands.

This was followed by a surprise for the kids.  The Bay has a great water splash park for the kids.  Unknown to the girls, we packed their swimming costumes and towels so that they could splash around in the park for an hour.  It was a great hit with both of them.

By the time they were thoroughly wet and a bit tired out, we found some food at the local food hall.  Mish finally  got his BBQ-ed stingray!  Once the tummies were satisfied, we headed to the skytree observation deck.  In the middle to the garden they have these "tree" towers, that are styled on eucalyptus trees.  The view from the top of the largest tree is great, especially with  the Marina Bay Sands towers in the backdrop.  One can also see how busy Singapore is as a port, with all the ships out in the water, it's really crowded!

The last part of the park was a special treat for Robyn.  We started the trip with the cherry blossoms in Japan, and now we are finishing the trip with a dome filled with flowers from all around the world.  The display was amazing and Robyn Loved it!  The girls loved not only the brightly coloured flowers but also Aloe in Wonderland that had all the characters from Alice in Wonderland in the flower display.

At this point we were all a bit tired.  So we headed back to the hotel to relax by the swimming pool, before heading out to the Ice Cream museum with Veronica (Robyn's friend, Soo's sister).   Veronica recommended this museum and it did not disappoint! The museum is a set of rooms (all in shades of pink), that were either interactive or served ice cream.  All you can eat ice cream… What a great idea before dinner….  However the girls' favourite room was the last one: the sprinkle pool!

Veronica also treated us to dinner, she actually spoilt us rotten!  She took us to restaurant that is very well known for its chilli crab.  And it was amazing, with its unique blend of spices.  However we did have to really work for our dinner as we had to deshell the crab to get to the yummy meat.  Near the end, Sue's other sister, Sally joined us.  It was lovely to meet her two sisters and Soo is so lucky to have such  open and caring sisters!

Time flew by so quickly that we did not realise that it was way past 22:00 when we got dropped off at the hotel.  And the kids crashed.  Hopefully they will sleep in a bit, as tomorrow we fly out!
