We woke up at 8:30 this morning, got ready, and then went down for some food. There was a buffet, and we ate pancakes and fruit for breakfast. Then we went to meet the guides at reception, for our canopy walk.
Together, we hiked up so many stairs, it felt like they were never ending. We climbed somewhere near 600 steep steps up and down again. Oh, how we sweated in the humidity heat, so much that nearly all of our tops were completely wet with it!
The Elephants had even been walking on the pathway, causing it to be broken in several parts. At least there was a brilliant view from the top of Bukit Terisek Mountain. It sits at around 300m above sea level and the view from the top of beautiful of the valley, river and more mountains on the other side. Then we went roughly halfway down again, to go on the canopy walkway. It consisted of wooden platforms in trees, with seven suspension bridges in between the trees. There were big masses of net in between the trees and a ladder with strips of wood over the gaps to form the walkways.
Once back down the mountain we ate lunch, and then had some time to relax and read our books, before we did our second activity for the day: freshwater, swimming. First of all, we got into our assigned boats, and headed off to the picture point. This picture point is the biggest Tualang tree in the area, and it’s really HUGE!
Then we continued to a stop on the river, where we could look at and feed indigenous river fishes. Finally, were taken to where we would be swimming, but we did not stop at the swimming point, we still had a hike to the swimming point, and quite a journey it was, with a tree roots forming natural, bumpy, up-and-down stairs.
When we arrived and got into the water, it was very deep, cool and refreshing. After getting into the water, we discovered a log that let us stand up. We could climb to the top of the log, which was overhanging the water, allowing us to jump in. We had some fun jumping in several times each. Then we went up to explore the rapids of the waterfall, Tati helped us experience travelling down the rapids, which was scary but fun. The water is flowing very fast and I had to use all my strength to swim back to the calmer water. We swam for over and hour, it was glorious! Then we returned to the boat for the last leg of the journey back to the hotel.
We had a shower and then read our books for a while, and then had dinner wrote todays blog. We are tired from all the fresh air and exercise, and it think we will sleep well tonight.
