Today marks the halfway point of our Asian adventure. It is unbelievable how quickly the time has flown by. It probably helps that we have been incredibly busy and active! Before we know it, we will be back on a plane home to UK…
Today was a travel day, hence after a later morning wake up, breakfast and some schooling we got back in the car and headed to Hanoi. We got to spend another half day in Hanoi, before catching out 22:00 overnight train to Hue.
We decided to just focus on the lively atmosphere of Hanoi and we did a great walking circle, and explored some more. One thing we definitely learned is that Vietnam is a place to haggle. And haggle we did, even when we were not interested in buying anything, just to practice. Mish managed to reduce the price from 500k (£16.7) to 300k (£10), learning an important lesson in the ability to walk away and see if they will drop the price further.
One problem we had, was deciding where to eat. Each one of us, has a different favourite type of Vietnamese food! Eventually we had to settle on doing our own little mini food tour, to have our favourites again!
With filled bellies, we were ready for our overnight train adventure. While the kids are tired, they are also excited about sleeping on a train! Hopefully they will be able to fall asleep and sleep through most of the 13hr and 45min train trip.
We got to the station without any hassle and boarded the train. Everything is super well organised. As its quite late, we settled the girls (in the top bunks of course) and hopefully they will fall asleep soon. This is quite the adventure for them!
