Vietnam - 20 April 2023

A really early start, with the Wozny Clan getting up at 5am to catch 2 trains to Narita airport.  It started off really well but, due to a slight hiccup we ended up at the wrong terminal and had to catch another train to the right one.

Once we got to the right one, and then to the airline counter, we found a rather long queue to check-in.  Unfortunately no online check-in option was available due to the need for a very stringent visa check.  After waiting over an hour in line, we were finally checked in and only had 45 minutes to go through security and passport control.  As one would guess, that involved another long queue!  The tight timing made it a bit stressful, but in the end we managed to board the plane (one of the last ones to get on).

5.5 hrs later, we land and start our Vietnamese adventure. It got off to a bit of a rocky start with the chaos of the airport and getting Robyn's Visa, which we eventually got all sorted.  The ride to the hotel was an eye opener, with all the mopeds just zipping past and all vehicles doing whatever they want on the roads, total chaos - a stark contrast to the very disciplined people of Japan!

As we were checking in, the girls learnt that the hotel has a swimming pool, so it was obvious what the first thing we hard to do… go swimming.  Once that was done we headed out into Hanoi's old quarter to explore and find food.

The chaos of the roads, the hustle and bustle on the street was amazing and thrilling.   We soon found some yummy food.

Along the way we found a lovely temple on a lake nearby. And finally a traditional Vietnamese water puppets show, that the girls loved and Mish found intriguing with how they managed to operate the puppets in the water.

After the show we headed home as it has been a very long long day and we are all tired!
