Japan - 16 April 2023

A lazy start to the day this morning, only getting up at 8am…  And we started the day with a lovely stroll in the sunshine down to the park to get expend some energy before settling down for some schooling.  Along the way we got to see how the soba noodles are made by hand.

We took a break for lunch and treated ourselves to some more Oyakis, including ones that were grilled over an open fire.  The ones we choose hand some pickled vegetables and another with mountain vegetables.  Quite tasty, but we did go back and got ourselves our original ones that we tried: miso with cheese.  According the the kids those were not “O- yucky” but rather “O-Yummy”!

As the sun was still out we decided to go geocache hunting and got a couple.  We realised that we are very close to having collected 200 caches, and hence challenged ourselves to reach that target in Japan.  Nagano is a great place to collect them, as there are lots in a relatively small area.

After the hunt, we treated ourselves to an apple and custard pie… one could easily eat one for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks!  With our sweet tooth satisfied, we sat down for more of school, until it was time to head out to find dinner.

This in turn, became a walk to collect even more geocaches! And we hit our 200 target!!!  The girls were super excited and we will need to find a way to celebrate tomorrow!

Tomorrow we are heading back to Tokyo, for the last few nights before we head out to our next destination: Vietnam.  As Harriette said today, she is sad that we are about to leave Japan but excited to explore a new country.
